QL Mouse cable connections
Hi, can someone let me know the correct pin connections to use a serial mouse with the QL? I wired up a cable as per the wiring diagram on Dilwyn's website but it doesn't work and I have no control of my mouse.

Hi,
You could try looking in the Hardware section of the Forum, but try these threads:

Not all serial mice work either, even if the wiring is right. You may have to try a few.

Ask me about felt pads - I can cut them to size and they have proved excellent for mdv data recovery.

Re: QL Mouse cable connections
With some serial mice you have to hold down a button to enter the two button or three button mode. Some versions of the sermouse software have to be configured appropriately. Some have reported not being able to get some mice to work with some versions of the software. And not all serial mice are equal - some are more modern mice in disguise, especially ones which come with adaptor plugs. Serial mice are troublesome, search for the topic on the forum, you'll see the subject comes up very often. In other words, unless you strike lucky and find someone describing the exact solution for your particular equipment, it can be a long drawn out affair trying to get some of these mice to work, I'm afraid.Chr$ wrote:Not all serial mice work either, even if the wiring is right. Re: QL Mouse cable connections
Hi,
I can offer some advice, having recently struggled with the same issue.
Most mice did not work and as a beginner I found it quite confusing but I after trial and error and I can confirm that there is a black serial mouse on eBay that does work and also the original genius mouse does work (but only the one that has a switch in front to change it's serial protocol).
I have attached pictures.
