Switching Regulator?

Post by t0nyt »

Could anyone recommend a switching regulator for my QL please?

It needs to be able to provide enough for the QL/Trump 1 768k/vMap/vDrive combo though please (there's also a disabled quintupler installed)

Many thanks
Tony

EDIT: added more information

Hi

I do not have as many peripherals as you list but can really recommend Traco TSR 2-2450, maximum 2A.

Thanks, have ordered one to try

Is there an easy way to tell which way around it goes in the existing QL regulator socket please?

Many thanks

Hi,

It's the same pinout, I can take a photo later for you.

Thanks, as the 3 pins are identical I didn't want to put it the wrong way around into the socket. Or maybe it doesn't matter?

Thanks
Tony

Oh, it definitely does matter which way it's connected!

The 'dot' indicates pin 1 which is the input (the nominal 9V from the PSU).
The middle pin (pin 2) is 0V/GND
The remaining pin (pin 3) is the +5V output.

Datasheet here ;-)

Thanks, but I don’t know which pin on the socket is pin 1 and the existing regulator has no mark that I can see either

I think the left pin when you look at the QL from the front is the input, but am not 100% without checking. Just check it with a multimeter, the output pin will be 5v.
