I know! It seemed to fluctuate between 5 - 8.4v, so lucky I nipped that in the bud. I know it's basic old-computer practice to check the voltages so I've learnt to do that simple thing more (and first) in the future.Pr0f wrote:You were lucky you didn't cook off all your chips - most of them will tolerate 6V - but no that much more...
In the end RAM IC8 was actually fine and it was its neighbour IC16 that was spoiling things - my chip tester didn't even recognise it as a 64Kx8 chip. All fine now. I quite enjoyed that repair.
