Another issue with the Backplane maybe line noise in the connections.
The Qplane was issues with this and Mplane was produced to try and remove any noise generated from the interconnection of the backplane to the QL.
Maybe an area worth looking at.

Thanks to Silvester for the help with the ICs
More tests continue to give conflicting RAM chip failures so I have ordered some IC21 ( HCT version) to replace. There are 2 of these on each OPD but I'd need to desolder them from the board. I have ordered from Tandy Online as, (for 5) they were 25p each with only £1.25 post. That was the best deal I could find by far. The ordering process fell over several times until it occurred to me that Firefox might be the problem. Chrome worked perfectly.
I already have a couple of the IC19 and 20.
The cut tracks/data line or whatever will wait until the QL is actually working correctly.
