You could try looking in the Hardware section of the Forum, but try these threads:

Some have reported not being able to get some mice to work with some versions of the software. And not all serial mice are equal - some are more modern mice in disguise, especially ones which come with adaptor plugs. Serial mice are troublesome, search for the topic on the forum, you'll see the subject comes up very often. In other words, unless you strike lucky and find someone describing the exact solution for your particular equipment, it can be a long drawn out affair trying to get some of these mice to work, I'm afraid.Chr$ wrote:Not all serial mice work either, even if the wiring is right. You may have to try a few.
mselkin wrote:Hi,
I can offer some advice, having recently struggled with the same issue.
Most mice did not work and as a beginner I found it quite confusing but I after trial and error and I can confirm that there is a black serial mouse on eBay that does work and also the original genius mouse does work (but only the one that has a switch in front to change it's serial protocol).
I have attached pictures.
Serial mice cannot be used with the ICE package as far as I know and you most definitley need the SerMouse software running on the PE, otherwise it doesn't matter what pinning you usemancity1961 wrote:I'm starting to realise how challenging this is. The mice I am using are all serial PC mice from the early 1990's so nothing modern and I have tried them using my ICE cartridge and using my Tetroid adapter with SMSQ/E software on CF card with the pointer drivers installed. I'll just have to soldier on, it took me quite a while to get my Wifi modem working but after a lot of hair pulling I did it.
Yes I wiinced. I just ordered some CH559 dev boards from China, could use chip for simple USB to SER mouse adaptor (programmed specifically to deal with QL serial)Derek_Stewart wrote:oh dear, £30 plus shipping for a mouse.mselkin wrote:I found this one, from China, I believe it is the same mouse:

Hi Silvester, is this a Sermouse compatible mouse? May I add it to the specific "Sermouse compatible mice list"?Silvester wrote: I've been using this one which only cost me £3 new from local computer shop in 1999:
