RWAP Z88 OZ4.7 Flash/RAM card

Post by Sparrowhawk »

I bought a Z88 OZ4.7.1 combo Flash/RAM card from Rich (RWAP) on sellmyretro, and needless to say, service was impeccable. 5*, would recommend :D

He also helped me out on the correct USB-to-serial adapter (cheap on Amz). My existing one clearly did not support full hardware handshaking as when I plugged this one in, I was able to transfer a file from my Windows 10 laptop using the Eazylink2 software, first time.

(I tried on Mac and Linux first, but in both cases the EZL2 client failed to start up, throwing cryptic errors - I will let the devs know. I suspect booth my macOS and Linux installations are simply too new, whereas Windows seems quite happy to run software from the neolithic)

best way to reach them is telegram if you have it - I can put you in touch.

the main developer uses a mac so everything is possible

Hi

I doubt Linux is too new, Eazylink is a QT5 application so should be cross platform.

Please this link for Linux / Mac

As they suggest it maybe a permission issue with your use account not in the dialup group.

Hi Derek thanks for the replies.

My user is definitely in the dialup group.

I'll try again over the weekend hopefully and so that I can get the specific error messages.

Actually I tried again on my Mac (M3).

Same error:
eazylink2 is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the bin
This is with a fresh download of Eazylink2_1.0.4-macOS-ARM.dmg from SourceForge.

I decided to take the nuclear option and see what happens if I cleared all attributes from all the files in the app package:

Code: Select all

% xattr -cr /Applications/eazylink2.app
Lo and behold, the app opens now! I don't have my Z88 to hand right now so I will check over the weekend to see whether it works or whether doing the above causes some side effects.

@Jbizzel sorry for some reason I thought your reply was also from Derek! Thanks for the info. Would you be able to forward the above to the devs to let them know what needed doing to get this to run? I do not use Telegram.

If not no worries, I'll send them a message on their Conlfuence site.
