Metacomco Pascal Manual

Post by Derek_Stewart »

I am trying to OCR a very badly scanned copy of the Metacomco Pascal Manual, but the scanned version is not very good.

I would like to buy or loan a Pscal Manual to update my scanning project

Hi Derek,

I have a copy that I can lend you (send you via post) or make a scan. My predecessor punched holes in it to make it fit for a binder, but the text is largely unaffected.

Would be glad to help. Cheers

Hi,

Your manual sounds what I would like to scan, can you send it without the binder?

I have sent you a PM with my address details.

Hi Andy

Your manual looks great, my scanner should scan it easily

The PDF file I was using from the Spanish web site is so badly scanned, it is unteadable.

check it here:

Thank to AndyZX for supplying the original manual for scanning.

The manual is in PDF and LibreOffice ODT formats.

If there are any errors in the manuals let me know and I will try to correct them.

Thanks Derek, I agree with Sparrowhawk - the scan is of great quality! I think it should be put on Dilwyn's Sinclair QL Homepage (now part of this Forum anyhow) to make it more visible to the QL community. ;)

Hi,

I should of put this in the Software section..

The manual was scanned to PNG files, cleaned up the images, black borders and other rubbish. Convert to PDF, and OCR with OCRMYPDF, produces a ASCII text file.

The text file loaded into LibreOffice Writer, which was used to proof read the scanned images compared to the text.

Once verified, I exported the file to PDF.

The LibreOffice file is also available for future corrections.

Derek
