Devpac QL

Post by MHedley »

I am looking for a copy of Hisoft Devpac QL. I know it's a long shot but does anyone have a copy they are willing to part with?

Actually, this is one title I have not been able to preserve for the pruposes of QL Software preservation, so if anyone has a copy at all, could they make a copy on disk please... :)

As Rich knows, I've got the debugger / disassembler (MonQL) only on microdrive - however I'm in Edinburgh and the microdrive is West Yorkshire. Also, my QLs are in disarray so can't easily transfer onto disk.

Fortunately, I'm back in West Yorkshire this weekend so I'll package the MonQL up and send it to Rich (RWAP) for the archives and hopefully distribute.

As for the assembler (Gens), I'm sorry but keep on searching.

If my memory is correct, Omega mentioned that he has used MONS/GENS when creating the dithvide displaying routine:

Try to ask him.

I'm not sure, if I have Devpac for QL or not, I will have a look - but no promises.

Wow! it sounds like there might be some hope after all. I just want to say thank you to everyone taking the time to search - it is much appreciated.

Drat and double drat - I forgot to post the MonQL to Rich. I'll post it when I have time, but the next time I come home is in three weeks time...

Thanks to twellys, I have now preserved a copy of HiSoft's Devpac.

It was indeed not just MonQL (although the manual is only the manual for MonQL), but the full Devpac (including the assembler - GenQL)

I cannot scan the hefty manual, but will return originals now to twellys.

Thanks all. :D

I have emailed Hisoft (again) to see if it can be released into the public domain - it is still commercial software subject to copyright restrictions.

HiSoft still going are they?

I suppose there was no reply. You should assume there's no problem, they can always ask you not to distribute later.
