QL + Monitor + Memodisk expansion

Post by Chr$ »

Here's an interesting one with what seems to be a fairly scarce floppy interface and a Microvitec monitor:

Nice little setup.

Ask me about felt pads - I can cut them to size and they have proved excellent for mdv data recovery.

Crikey - I obviously have not been using ebay very much - the prices of QL stuff are suddenly staggering - what happened?

No bids on that combo yet, but it will certainly sell.

Perhaps QL originals have been undervalued previously. Perhaps more have re-discovered the QL during lockdown. Who knows. There are certainly some quite serious collectors out there. I notice when I'm either outbid on something obscure or have to go silly high to get it!

The reason for this is that I recently sold all my QL hardware. I knew when I did this that the prices would shortly go through the roof. It always happens, so I usually warn my friends before I make a financial move: When I buy, they are advised to sell, and when I sell, they should buy. Its the Reverse Midas touch. So now you know ;)

Hi,

I live near the sellers location, but I think it is over priced and they do not seem to know the difference between a hard drive and floppy drive...

Well it seems to be a "hard floppy" drive....

Yes, I don't think this is overpriced as a starting bid at all (a lot of other QL items on ebay are though in my opinion!)

This is a rare disk interface - it would be good to add details from the manual and maybe an image of teh ROMs to the Wiki / Dilwyn's site.

Normally that's just the kind of bat$#!^ crazy thing I'd do , but being in Germany it's not really practical to snap up an item that includes a heavy monitor. And he won't send abroad :(
