We still might have to give you a ducking down on the river, if only out of common courtesy :D

If nothing else - I think we are all intrigued now anyway :-)

Being new to the machine I initially thought wow, this thing shipped with a ton of ports. Looking more closely I realised that even Sir Clive’s penny pinching ways probably didn’t extend to cutting holes in the back with a Stanley knife

Normally on the back you get 2 network ports, a power port, 8 pin video output (RGB and composite available), 2 serial ports, 2 control ports (joystick) and a ROM port. A microdrive extenstion on the right hand side as you look from the front, and the large 64 pin expansion connector inside on the left - there would have been port covers over this, the rom port and the microdrive extention.

US and German versions had 9 pin D connectors rather than the BT style sockets on the UK model.

A QIMI and a Minerva. So mouse interface and a replacement rom?

Hermes chip in there too. I pulled out the keyboard ribbons. Yeah, they’re not going back in lol. Guess I’ll need a new membrane anyway. They feel like they’re made of paper, all delaminated.

You may still be ok with the keyboard tails - they do come apart eventually, but as long as they are not folded (gentle bend is ok), or the contact strips at the ends rubbed bare or tarnished badly it should still work.

Good find :-)
