I made some tests using DIY volume W - windows_code and it works like a charm !
The screens were compressed to 51% and the loading speed is ok for unexpanded QL
Thank you for the tip !
Great! Wasn't sure it would help, have never used the W volume myself - Just browsed through the docs some time ago.

The only downside is that compression is achieved by saving only red or green.
So when you load the image you have to recolor it to get white pixels - and you get red or green flicker.
But is acceptable (and the flicker is not visible at GC or SGC speed)

Load the 8 pixel block into a register and use move.w to write both bytes in one operation?
I am looking for 2-3 testers for my game. I prefer 2 of them to be native english speakers, as I am not and the texts might need corrections.
For QA tests use expanded bbQLs (256kb minimum + storage), QEmulator or QPC2.
