I've now done that and it does work.

I replace the V3 engine_rext with that supplied with V4 and also the main program. No need to include "engine_init" in the boot, and (up to now) it seems to work without problem. The only issue is that HELP tries to load the Prowess reader and fails, but that is not really much of an issue.
