Win 10 update

Post by dilwyn »

My PC's started installing Win 10 20H2 update.

I may disappear for a few days if recent major Windoze 10 updates have been anything to go by.

Hmm. I spoke too soon. The other PCs can no longer see this PC or its printers. Network sharing on etc etc. Should have known Micro$oft couldn't do an update with screwing everything up to totally waste a day.

Looks like it's broken. Tried all the usual solutions that google throws up for this and nothing works. Nothing can see anything else on the network any more whatever this update has done, can see a lot fo people looking it up online so clearly it's fucked up PCs everywhere,

Everything worked fine before the update. I 've followed all the usual steps such as ensuring network discovery on, file and printer sharing on, password protected off. Everything worked absolutely fine before the update therefore I'm about to roll back the fucking update as it's broken the PC settings, the more time I spend on it the more I realise has changed, so fuck this for a game of toy soldiers. No wonder people run their PCs with old system software when this always and always happens without fail.

Both PCs could see each other and copy files between them and share printers happily this morning. Now, even after the rollback to previous windows version, they still can't see anything else on the network, so it was quite obviously the update that broke things.

Question is,even though network discovery is on, file and printer sharing on and password protection off on the network, the PCs can't see anything but my two smart TVs and the boradband hub over their ethernet connections.

Just ran the Windows Network Diagnostics, came up with this:

Where do I go from here? Why does networking have to be so impossible for someone who isn't an IT specialist??
