Sinclair QL, bit & bobs...anyone interested?

Hello,

I am a new member on here so please excuse me if this is not the done thing or this isn't the correct area to post this.

I have recently been sorting through my Mother's attic and come across many old computers and parts collected by my late Father. I have no interest in these nor does my Mother and she is eager to bin them but they may well be of interest to some of yourselves on here. Putting them on Ebay was my first thought as getting some money for them would be nice, but I'd simply rather see them go to someone who will appreciate them rather than the bin. I googled Sinclair QL's and came across this site.

I have a photo showing all the parts and am able to answer any questions you have, although quite possibly not technical ones relating to the computer itself! I also cannot test anything but have no reason to believe they are in anything other then full working order. The QL is boxed, dust free and keyboard wrapped in plastic, several cartridges and holders and what appears to be a full user manual. There is also some Spectrum gear, (which I also have photos of) +3, (no discs) loads of tapes (but no actual +2 tape drive), power pack, joystick, gun, and various other things. Maybe this isn't the place for Spectrum fans?!

Anyway, if any of these things are of interest to anyone please get in contact with me. I would much rather get rid of the QL stuff as a job lot, getting rid of the Spectrum stuff also would be great.

Photos and more detail available.

Thanks

Tim

Forgot to mention, items are located in South Wales, but I'm sure postage could be arranged if needed.

I would be interested in all of this - I could go through it all and test it. We could then come to some arrangement if you wanted me to either purchase it in bulk, or sell it over a longer time, with some commission to myself

Just beware that I am a trader, so it would be sold on...

I second that Rich would be a great person to give the hardware to - he would be able to test/refurbish everything that can be fixed, then ensure it went to a good home with someone who would appreciate it.

No it's the perfect place to post this, thank you :) It's a crying shame when stuff gets thrown out.

I can vouch for vanpeebles too. I know he looks shifty, but he runs this place and it turned out okay. :)

Never mind about the shifty characters who posted above

You say you are in South Wales.

If wish for a quick removal and you prefer local pick-up, I may not be too far away, depending on where you live. I'm the other side of the Bristol channel (off Jcn 21 of the M5). I'm not a trader, but may sell or give away any items that I may not need. Any QL software would be sent to Richard if he wanted it for preservation.

What I keep, would find a good home.

Sometimes I even find the time to fix items that don't work ;)

As they say, the choice is yours...

Mark

Give them to Rwap.
He is a very good dealer and the parts will find no better way to us.
Kind regards
Paul

Hello,

Quite impressed by the positive response so far...and I can see that they will eventually find a good home!

I've had a couple of private messages expressing interest and asking for a price but I've just discovered I am unable to reply to them.

I have looked at postage in UK and it would consist of 2 boxes and cost roughly £20.

Rich, your post sounds interesting. TBH I don't mind if they are sold on or what happens to them after as long as they are not binned my my hands! I would prefer payment for them upfront. I am doing this on behalf of my Mother and she would prefer a simple sale using paypal rather than any arrangements. (I don't live local to her, so after today finalising all the details will be slightly more difficult for me).

To the guy who messaged me (will keep it private) asking for a price, I cannot reply to you yet, could you post your private email address for me to use, unless that is against forum rules.

Thanks again all.

Tim

Tim,

Basically the QL and Spectrum +3 are worth around £120 plus the postage if they are working and in good condition. If you get a better offer, then please feel free to take it up - I have enough QLs here to keep me going for a while! :)

There is really no value in Spectrum cassettes any more (apart from some specific software).
