Are there any more modern CPLDs / FPGAs that can be used in place of the EP1810?

Having asked that I would like to thank you for all of the, obviously, hard work that you have put in designing and developing your QL accessories. You have produced wonders with very limited resources.

For use the modern CPLDs we need to redesigned all SGC.
At first I was hoping to make the map as close as possible to the original.

Tetroid,

I probably will not understand the answer to this question, but, If the package is the same, and the functionality can be reproduced, why would all of the SGC have to be redesigned?

I'm not moaning, just asking.

More modern CPLD 68pin PLCC have fewer inputs and outputs and cannot be used instead of EP1810 without redesign the board.

I notice the blue SGC has a slightly different layout to the red and black ones. Is it an earlier or later revision? What caused the change?

The blue board - experimental.
The differences:
2 clock : 24 MHz oscillator for floppy disk controller and other - system clock generator. Because of that system and CPU clock may be different from 24 MHz.
