But AFAIk nothing has materialized out fo that.
Still "Elite" could be one of the few games where QL could efectively shine, even today.

So I wonder if there is source available, either of original or of that demo...
Charvel.zip (136K) - holds the Charvel Soft demo disk, containing:
3D and Elite Demos (5) by Dave Halls Barker, Robert James Nash and Mark Handley
http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/demos/Charvel.zip

Never used it, I don't know anything about it.

It doesn't work with Minerva ROM - and it needs more than 128k of RAM
It works in QEmulator - with JS Rom and 640k memory, the zip file mapped as win1_
And IT'S IMPRESSIVE !!!

I only gave half an answer on the Elite demo (I was away when I wrote the message) - I should also have mentioned that Derek's txtElite is available on the Games page on my site:

http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/games/index.html

Or download the zip file directly: http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/games/txtElite1-6.zip

Can you map zip file directly as WIN1 ?
Or do you mean this as "unpacked zip file" ?
Yes, in QEmualator you can map a zip file directly as Win1_ . Of course, it will be a read-only drive.

Hi,

A zip file can only be mapped as a drive in the registered version of Q-Emulator. I can not fine a way to map a zip file as a QDOS drive in uqlx or sQLux. However, if a floppy image is attached to uqlx or sQLux in the configuration with:

DEVICE = FLP1,~/Charvel.img,qdos-fs

then when the emulator starts, device FLP1 will point to the floppy image

I made a 720Kb Floppy Image of the Charvel zip archive:
Charvel.img.zip
Charvel Compressed Floppy Image file
(120.32 KiB) Downloaded 70 times
Note the ~/ means the home directory.

I found sQLux with JS ROM, 640Mb ram, ran the software, but too fast to be useable.

Regards,

Derek
