Yesterday I tried the PC version of Easel: guys, it's so embarassing!

What's the copyright status of the PC Xchange package? If the PC Four can be distributed, Can the PC Xchange version also be.

I would have thought so. i.e. they've retained the copyright but allow for them to be freely distributed - if that were not the case I don't suppose Dilwyn would have made them available.

I'm friendly with a mid-sized scrap metal firm boss and from him (for next to nothing), just before the tightened lockdown in Germany, I was able to get a P1 CPU, socket 7 m/b, PCI video card and ISA sound card. With those parts (lucky me, they all work), some stuff I had laying around and some fixing up, I've built a PC that runs DOS 6.22 and as of today, has a 5.25" FDD!

So I tried my Psion PC-FOUR, and they all worked perfectly, all the disks were spiffing.

Lightning fast loading, all very familiar. Great

*puts them back in the box to probably never use again, after copying all the files over to a CF card*

And, I think, you get italics on PC-Four.

On the printer perhaps, but not on the (character mapped) screen. It shows up in yellow rather than white.

Thanks Jan,

I've never used PC-Four so I wasn't aware. But I coded for it in QStripper, which can read both versions of a Quill document.

I always assumed the PC could show italics onscreen.

Cheers,
Norm.

For posterity here is a zip of the PC-FOUR. Each of the 5 folders contain the contents of 1x 5.25" disk. File dates a little newer than the version of Dilwyn's site (Apr 87 as opposed to Oct 86).

Thanks chr$

It's nice to have these neatly split up into separate disks - the version on my site has everything thrown together in one directory, so harder to install or use just one of the four programs at a time I guess. Will add this to my site if you don't mind?

Yes of course. Always pleased when I share something that you can also make use of. A
