Hi,

I always use Toolkit 2 enabled, usually the first command in a boot file, which sets the default devices with DAR_USE, PROG_USE.

Toolkt 2 is built into SMSQ/E, Super Gold Card command AUTOTK2F1 allows automatic Toolkit 2 enable.

The FTEST function is nothing to directories, only allows testing for files, but the function does return 255 for a hard directory.

Regards,

Derek

I see (about SGC having an auto-start option).

Not having a manual for the SGC clone I'm just having to use the Trump Card manual for most things and the command list to guess the rest.

Or just read the original manuals ;) http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/docs/manuals/gc.zip and http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/docs/manuals/sgc.zip

As the old adage goes, "If all else fails, read the manual." ;-)

Oh well, seems like I managed to get myself into a situation where the game cannot be solved. Description/spoiler encoded in ROT13 https://rot13.com/:

V hfrq gur png n frpbaq gvzr jvgu gur pybgu yvar, fb V bayl unq n obhaq png ng gur Znevan. Ohg gur obhaq png pnaabg gnxr gur svfu sebz gur obk, fb V pbhyq arire trg ng gur ebcr uvqqra haqre gur svfu...

After playing it a second time I have now solved it. There are no alternative endings, are there?

I'm afraid that might have been caused by a last-minute change based on one of my proposals. I'm feeling guilty :D

And yes, there seems to be an alternative ending, a pretty abrupt one. If you forget to do something in the first room, it's going to hit you in the last....

Not necessarily in the first room - you can do that almost anywhere.
