I have yet to find a use for the SMSQE interpreter. An example of something I can't do with the SMS2 QD-Qlib-SBASIC thing would be enlightening.mk posts:- I don't see any advantage to it. (SMS2 or CLI?)
On the other hand trying to convince someone outside of the QL world that SMSQE is more than a QDOS clone is difficult.
And:-
Although there may be no advantage to SMS2, the following comment extracted from one of TT's documents is interesting.
"SMSQ was SMS2 to which SuperBASlC compatibility was retrofitted. lt was inlended to provide a QL compatible operating system for various QL emulalors. ln general it was much faster than QDOS. lt was purely retrospective and did not further the Domesdos style OS principles.
In other words SMS2 was a path to a future whereas SMSQ was not. I suppose the E in SMSQE refers to the Enhanced drivers (DV3) developed for SMS2.
