Lucerne, Apr 29th 2015 – Urs König of COWO Enterprises LLC proudly releases QL IS 30 2014 - THE DISTRIBUTION for public download. This distribution is the successor to the QL Today 2013 The Final DVD which was sent out to subscribers in September 2013 with The Final Issue of the QL Today magazine. The new version holds everything which was on the DVD, but has been carefully updated and supplemented with new material - Urs has been able to add some real long lost gems and an exclusive new release of a formerly commercial package, QDT the ultimate QL desktop - created or preserved during the last few months. Altogether there are 4.7 GB of QL related documents, software and pictures on this distribution. Preconfigured QL emulators for use under Windows, Mac OS and even Linux make it easy to bring the QL (back) to your desk. Great ways to (re-)start programming for the QL or using QL programs. QL IS 30 2014 - THE DISTRIBUTION is free which means it can be downloaded, used and given to friends by anyone at no cost. QL forever!

I already have the QL Today DVD but it's good to know I can bring it up to date.

I’ve created a cumulative incremental delta update package of version 3.02 (32 MB ZIP file) for those who have already downloaded (and installed) v3.01 (GA, 11.04.2015) or v3.01A (29.04.2015). Just unzip this ZIP file at your storage location of the unzipped distribution and confirm to overwrite existing files.

Another thing well worth looking at on the distribution is the excellent collection of QL Todays and QUANTA magazines. I noticed QUANTA issue 6 of volume 27 has a great screenshot of an empty looking forum with no posts

We have a system at work with the Tech Preview eval version of Windows 10. I gave it a go (but only for about 5 minutes) with the QL/E environment under QPC2 (started QPC2.exe in the \qle\ folder of The Distribution). Long story short: QPC2 runs under Windows 10!

The QTop-Index benchmark test did lag a bit (esp. at GRAFSCRN) which may be because this PC has a type of embedded i7 CPU which is a bit slow when not in TurboBoost mode. Hmmm...

Anyway, QL goes Windows 10 then!

Some web statistics: In the first two months since general availability (GA) of THE DISTRIBUTION the sinclairql.net website had about 0.5TB traffic. Download records are 144x for the full distribution and 31x for the update package.

Just a short note that I’m working on a minor update (SMSQmulator, QL/E, ...) which should see the light of day sometime time summer.

The current “completed download” count for THE DISTRIBUTION since release day 2015-04-11 is 240! A slightly improved version (3.05) has been released this evening. Major changes are related to new versions SMSQmulator and SMSQ/E. Follow the link in the signature below. QL forever! Cheers, Urs
