Well I've been typing out some more thoughts and ideas tonight. Thinking how I can make puzzles and make a game out of it. And also figuring out the story.

Well after some thought and inspection of the two programs, I've decided to go with ACT as the utility of choice. The Quill didn't have the flexiblity and didn't seem to make the best use of the QL hardware.

If you want any help/testing, I'm interested, and my Missus is a Sherlock Holmes buff.

OH I agree - ACT is much better to use...

Although there is the public domain Quill to SuperBASIC convertor which Alan Pemberton used for Voyage of the Beano !

I didn't know Voyage of the Beano was done in the Quill, that's pretty impressive! :ugeek:

I took my first proper steps with ACT last night, I checked out the included Imagine adventure which was pretty impressive. The game runs a real time clock even if you don't enter commands etc. At one point I left it running and it drew a ghost on my screen which stole a note then vanished.

I copied the beginner files to a second working floppy which I could edit calling up the tasks, but I didn't have much luck using the captain menu system, when I selected go nothing happened. But I don't think I re-tried captain after I copied the working files to flp2.

RWAP would it be possible to release ACT as a single item to purchase? We could maybe get some kind of user group going :)

I may have another copy of ACT - but unfortunately, the copyright position is the problem here - it would mean trying to track down the authors (can you remind me who they were please!)
