Oh cool. Is that something I can help test on easily when it's available?

Yes it would be, but:

A) It doesn't work yet.

B) That trick causes collateral damage! E.g. when receiving over SER with 115200 Baud, only 1.5 msec fit into the 16 Bytes receive buffer, and when polling keyboard costs 1.6 msec, you lose serial data. (Imagine the documentation saying "Don't type when using 115200 Baud"...) Let alone potential ethernet interrupts. I have severe doubts this trick is a good idea, just to avoid a handful of FPGA updates. After all, this is special luxury, the Q68 was never offered with USB.
