I will post up some more updates this weekend - I have a keyboard map and a few other bits to upload.

Other projects and a 3d printer have taken my time at the moment, so work on the OPD => QLish device have stalled a little.

Here's an OPD (or rather, Tonto) update:

Mine now has a PC PSU/Video adapter with a scart plug on the other end. I also took everything apart and cleaned it all very thoroughly. And it works, I can go through the menus, all is good.

I have 4 original mdvs with it and they seem a bit shaky (so is one of the drives).

My next mission is therefore to attempt to make back up copies of the original software and save what I can. They have obviously all been re-felted. It appears that is possible on a QL running Dave Walker's OPD<>QL Interchange software.

So wish me luck (and pointers/ideas gratefully received).

Ask me about felt pads - I can cut them to size and they have proved excellent for mdv data recovery.

I still have my OPD in the cellar. Unfortunately, I have modified my CUB (formerly used with the QL) to work with the OPD, but I can't remember, what I have modified to reverse it.

But you could use the CUB with the OPD to test it out? That's 2 OPD's in Germany then at least, there can't be many.

I've just been making backups of the original OPD cartridges using Dave Walker's OPD/QL Interface software and it all seemed to work - it read and copied them to new carts and reported no file errors. I just need to dig out the OPD now, set it up and then verify that the created carts work on it.

Me not, I am lucky, that my XChange in the OPD works ;) Are the OPD and Tonto ROM packages identical?

@Chr$:
I also have about six MDV from Dave Walker but have never used them, I think, they must be re-felted. I think, this is also software to read OPD cartridges on QL.

Yes, the two ROM packages are the same - not forgetting the Australian Computerphone version too!

Not me - I have a couple of those for sale on sellmyretro though - https://www.sellmyretro.com/offer/detai ... pack-32276

Those were supplied with the original machines - there was a more useful 4 slot version too

I have an OPD disk interface here which is always useful - unfortunately, it does not recognise the disk drive at all, so it has a fault somewhere on the board.

Does anyone fancy having it to see if they can fix it?
