30th birthday of QL

Post by Paul »

The new QL-SD Device is now for sale.
A first auction can be found on SMR
http://www.sellmyretro.com/offer/detail ... or-QL-3596
it will end on 21.1.2014 as this is the QL's birthday.

Kind regards
Paul

Great auction!

Sadly, SellMyRetro reports "You cannot Bid! This item is not for sale in your region."

I have reported that to Paul - he needs to adding shipping options for outside the EU if he is willing to send it further overseas....

Bid placed :)

Any bets on what it'll go for? I am guessing if it has S/N: 1 it'll go for >£150

No idea - but yes, the winner will now get a certificate signed by Peter Graf to say it is the first production model... :D

I have added the pre version of the manual to the auction, just in case someone is interested 8-)

Interesting

In it it states
Bad manuals would now state „Assembly follows the exact steps as disassembly but in the
opposite order“ - And we do exactly the same.
So this must be pre version "Bad Manual"

I find it exciting to read on page 5 that QL-SD contained Toolkit II in (EP)ROM. :?

This would indeed be nice to have, since Toolkit II in RAM had difficulties with network timings, if I remember correctly. Unfortunately, the address space in the QL ROM socket is just 64KB and does only allow 48K for the OS plus 16K for the QL-SD driver and IO. With QL-SD installed, Toolkit II has to be loaded from some drive (e.g. floppy or SDHC card) into RAM.

QL-SD does not contain Toolkit 2!

Oops, my fault. I have corrected this in my local version, but not sent it to Paul yet.....

(That's why it says it's a "pre-version" ;) )

Apologies,
Tobias
