Tetroid Disc Interface and Flp1_
Tetroid Disc Interface and Flp1_
Hi everyone,
I'm sure this has been asked before. Is there an easy way to get my floppy drive to be recognized as FLP1_? I have it attached via a straight cable to the tetroid disc interface and it is only accessible as FLP2_.
Thanking you,
Mark

Depending on the drive, as easy as opening it and moving DS1 jumper to DS0 (may require moving solder link/bridge)mselkin wrote:Hi everyone,

Hi,
All disk drives intended for use on PC based computers thatvrun Windows, Linux have the drives configured to be Drive 1 (DS1), the floppy disk cable has a twist in the middle to switch the Drive Select to Drive 0 (DS0).
To get a Windows PC floppy disk drive working on a QL, straighten the twist in the cable to Drive 0 ( FLP1), and as suggested above change the Drive Select to DS0.
If the Drive Select is hard wired and you do not want to change the hard wire. The drive can be configured as FLP1 by twisting lines 10, 11, 12 which will change the Drive to DS0.
I can make the cable for if you want.

Further to my last post, I obtained a GOTEK floppy emulator, which does let me configure it as drive 0, flp1_.
So, if I wish to use the GOTEK(jumpered as DS0) as flp1_ and the real floppy (hard wired as DS1) as flp2_, am I correct that the ribbon cable simply have 3 connectors (in parallel) and no twists?

I just finished 3D printing a case to house 2 floppy disks, still waiting on parts for a power supply and ribbon cable.

That doesn't look too bad at all. Just out of interest, what 3D printer do you have and how long did that take to print please?
Cheers,
Norm.

My 3D printer is home made/scratch built, that print took 34 hours but I believe I print slower than most people.
