Hi,

The missing pin 40 on some my QIMI interfaces is great news.

I just need to replace broken Rom socket pins.

Think of a better way to attach the mouse/RTC battery cable.

I was thinking of a CR2032 battery, in a holder, would this be okay?

Ok thanks Marcel. One less thing to repair. Time to fire the soldering iron. I have little hope that it will work at the end of the day, but it worth a try. If unsuccessful, the QIMI will end up in my ever growing pile of none working QL hardware.

If I remember correctly, QLObi on this forum is expert when it comes to QIMI retrofits. Could make sense to message him.

By the way, which mouse interfaces are supported by the non-SMSQ/E pointer environment?

You'd need the rechargeable version of CR2032, but I think with the present QIMI circuit the voltage would be too low (3V versus nicad 3.6V) tripping RESET condition.

BTW IMHO the original QIMI charge resisitor is too large (2K2?). You can continuosly charge nicad at 1/10th of capacity, QIMI is much lower. One of the problems encountered was flat batteries (causing locked RESET state). It was OK if you had your QL a few hours every day, but if you only powered up QL 2 hours once or twice a week it went flat too often.

Does anyone know what the current consumption is of the seconds counter clock (RTC) that's in the Zx8302 ?
