Hahaha, a DOM is a disc on module, it's a small plug in ide flash storage that fits nicely (and it's powered by the qubide)

Is it related to a CUMMINGS by any chance? ;)

Seriously though, I read this morning that police are investigating the disappearance of a plaque from outside the Colgate factory! :D :D :D (I lied about seriously)

Cheers,
Norm.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid-state_drive#DOM - a kind of flash drive which can be used instead of a hard disk.

Short for Mr. Cummings, it also happens to be Welsh for a cowpat or t**d or pile of s**t. Probably synonymous.

As for Norman's plaque, it simply got brushed from history... ;)

Thanks Dilwyn. Up until recently I'd never heard of one. (Wish I'd never heard of the other Dom as well.)

Love the idea that Dom is Welsh for cow pat. Love it! :D

Cheers,
Norm.

Thought you were going to suggest that vanpeebles had a cowpat attached to his QL for a moment... :D

Being serious for a moment, it might be useful if vanpeebles could document how to attach and set up a DOM on his QL, if he has time. I'm sure this issue may well raise its head again in the future.

Sadly I couldn't find a way of formatting it on windows. The DOM is just formatted as per the Jose qubide instructions on your site :) My original plan was try and mount the dom, as a usb drive on windows, format it for a ql, and write a win_ file to it.

Instead, I'll copy the files to an sd card in q-emulator, using the BDI thingy, then using the QL, copy the files from QL-SD sdc1_ to the qubide dom, win1_.

Oh, is it a USB drive? I somehow got the impression it was an IDE or SATA device, in which case you'd right click on the device in Windoze and format it as a hard drive, then do a QL format in Qubide maybe.

Wonder if Haabi's transfer software has a format option? (never used it).

It is IDE, I just had a USB to IDE adapter for PC etc :) I couldn't see a format option on habi.

Oh, I see, I just had a quick look at Habi manual, no mention of format other than saying it recognises a Qubide format disc. Nice to confirm that the standard Qubide format command will format the DOM at any rate.
