Gold plated AH ROMs and the Hotel!

Post by Chr$ »

Discovered these in a recent purchase - very pretty gold plated AH ROMs, looks like the manufacturer VL or VLI? It's a D09 serial number machine with Iss 5 board.

Anyone who knows who VL/VLI were, let me know.

Also, quite amusingly while googling I encountered the 'Sinclair Rom' hotel, in Norway:

Ask me about felt pads - I can cut them to size and they have proved excellent for mdv data recovery.

Looks like an early logo of VLSI who started life mostly with ROMs.

Philips aquired them in 1999

Its possible that the proprietor was indulging in a private joke, but the word 'rom' in Norwegian only means room or rooms, so Sinclair rom simply means Sinclair rooms - not all that weird for a hotel, perhaps. But dont let that stop anyone from visiting ;)

If I stayed in the Sinclair Room, I'd expect the walls to be covered in speccy and QL stuff, and a huge photo of Sir Clive on the wall

VTI not VLI, is VLSI Technology, Inc.
See the Wikipedia article.

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb :!:
Looking forward to summer in Somerset later in the year :)

Thanks for the comments and maker ID.

No, that's not me selling them. Certainly look the same though.
