Sony CVM, BVM, or PVM with QL ?
Anyone know if one can use the Sony style, more industrial looking style CRT Displays with the QL?
If yes, does it show all QL resolutions correctly or missing right two characters like I have today using the SCART to HDMI Adapter to my LCD screen?
Models like the CVM or BVM or PVM.
I think I want to go with one of these Sony's here in the USA if I can for my QL... although I would LOVE a SInclair branded black display... I think my odds getting one in USA is about nil.

I use a SONY PVM1454-QM with the QL with no problems whatsoever
All image is on screen (if the underscan button is pressed), not missing any characters. You will need to build an Scart to 4xBNC adaptor

I'm a bit lost exactly where you want to plug the SCART plug in when you no longer use the upscaler?
I'd rather think you need a custom "DIN-to-4x-Cinch-Adapter" (note you cannot use the ones intended for audio use normally - they tend to have a 470-Ohm resistor in the recording lines.) The video ones normally have a female DIN, you need a male one.

If you want to use store -bought cables: you plug the scart cable into the female scart of the RGB Scart to 4xBNC adapter. This is my setup now , albeit I use a home built adapter . This also allows me to use the same QL SCART cable with different monitors/TVs (with or without another adapter, depending on the monitor)tofro wrote:I'm a bit lost exactly where you want to plug the SCART plug in when you no longer use the upscaler?
A "DIN-to-4x-Cinch-Adapter" eliminates the need of adapter, but you will have to built it yourself and use it only with the SONY monitor.

I am in the USA... but my QL is a UK model. Right now I use a SCART to HDMI adapter and is fine for now.. but... if I buy a USA model Sony BVM... will I have PAL/NTSC issues?Andrew wrote:If you want to use store -bought cables: you plug the scart cable into the female scart of the RGB Scart to 4xBNC adapter. Not sure if Sony BVM sold here in USA can handle both PAL and NTSC or are only NTSC and therefore, this cable method may not work for me? Not sure.
But if the USA Sony BVM can handle PAL, I guess I would be OK?

Sony can handle PAL, SECAM, NTSC and NTSC 4.43 on the Video input.
But you will be using the RGB+Sync input which gives you the best image.

Will start saving for a Sony BVM.
I guess if I can't find the exact model mentioned above, any recommendations of what I need to confirm my Sony BVM should have before I buy one.
