I removed my 2 MDV drives from my QL to test my Vdrive
I want to reinstall them. How do I know which is MDV1 and which is MDV2? Or are they interchangeable and it doesn't matter which drive install where?
Cheers!
Bill

Re: MDV1 and MDV2
The units are identical - they are interchangeable. Check if the diode was installed on both of them . Without that diode (on both of them) vDrive will not work

Thanks Andrew.
What diode to use and where does it get connected on the drive?
Thanks

Why is the shield needed? And what happens if it's missing?
3 of my QLs came without the shield

Re: MDV1 and MDV2
My drives have the diode. I installed the new Map and installed new MDV1 and MDV2 and everything is working. So now I have a brand new QL!

It is an RF Shield.
I thought it was a heatsink to stop it being affected by the small chip on the motherboard right against this shield?

No, could't be a heatsink, as it had some isolation on the inside

Re: MDV1 and MDV2
Definitely RF shield as there is a piece of shielding material that sits behind that metal cover. This material is what cancels the RF, the metal shield is to keep the material in place and to keep from touching the Motorola 1377
