Q68 Black Phoenix v1.4.3

Postby Derek_Stewart » Mon Mar 12, 2018 9:54 pm

Hi,

I have Black Phoenix v1.4.3 running on the Q68.

The startup animation works perfectly in Q68 DISP_MODE 1 - 512x256.

There are some slight conditional changes to the BP Boot file, due some commands not present in Q68 SMSQ/E. Like DOS_USE for QPC2. This I used the MACHINE function to deselect the line.

I have used the fastest Hi Colour screen mode, DISP_MODE 6 - 512x384 Mode 33.

I have altered the BP Desktop_bas file to move the SBASIC window over to the right hand side and load QDT with small icons.

I might have to condense number of QDT icons on the screen due lack screen area.

I will try and produce a little You Tube video of the startup sequence and post a link here.

Regards,

Derek

No, I altered the BOOT & DESKTOP_BAS files to get the correct changes. I will undo my changes and use Qustomizer to make the changes correctly.

One question. Why use the EXEC command in the DEDKTP_BAS file. EX is better for multitasking.

It is strongly discouraged to change Blackphoenix_bas, I can not guarantee normal operation if it is changed.
Instead the BOOT file is for customizations (only if you can not do it via Qustomizer)

I did not know there were differences between the two commands ...
Why is "EX" better?
What differences are there between the two commands?

In SMSQ/E these commands are one and the same. No difference.

Hi,

I re-read the SMSQ/E manuals. Looks like I made an error.

Just goes show all these years I was under the impression the EX was a better version of EXEC.

Must too much soldering fumes...

Derek,
on the black box it actually is: The original EXEC cannot take any arguments.

But I suspect you mixed up EXEC and EXEC_W

With TK2 installed, EXEC is the same as EX (and EXEC_W the same as EW). Of course this goes for TC, GC as well.

Jan.

Hi Giorgio,

I am sorry for the spelling mistakes on the message I posted. I will have to stop entering messages on my mobile phone, as it has too small a keyboard for my big fingers.

My problem with getting Black Phoenix to run on the Q68 was some QPC2 statements like: DOS_USE are not included in the Q68 SMSQ/E. So maybe wrongly I used an IF statement to only select the DOS_USE if it is not a Q68. Can this be done in "Qustomizer"?

I have read your web page on "Qustomizer" can you expand a little more on the way that "Qustomizer" works.

Regards,

Derek
