Wolfgang Lenerz has released v1.00 of SMSQmulator today. His email to ql-users list is copied below.
It runs on Java on Windows/Mac/Linux systems. It's a 68000 emulator running SMSQ/E. Wolfgang says it is not a "QL" emulator as such, since older QDOS programs might not run on it. It can be downloaded and used free on systems with Java installed. Once I downloaded the zip file onto my Windows PC, I just placed the unzipped files in a folder somewhere and double clicked on the smsqmulator.jar file and off it started quite happily. Wolfgang has included a few games and Xchange for you to see how it works.
It can do 16-bit colour, hires displays, Sampled Sound System/BEEP (within Java sound limitations!), access QXL.WIN, Native File Access, SMSQ File Access (like Native File Access but with QL file headers appended) and read floppy disc images (sadly not read/write to standard floppy discs).
Wolfgang also let us know about the new URL for SMSQ/E sources:SMSQmulator, the SMSQ/E machine emulator under Java is now out.
You can find it at :
http://www.wlenerz.com/SMSQmulator.
(Please note that, the site running under linux, this address is case
dependent - grrrr!).
SMSQ/E v. 3.14, with the new licence, has been moved to:
http://www.wlenerz.com/smsqe.
There isn't really much that is new in 3.14, except that it contains the
SMSQ/E code for SMSQmulator - no need to upgrade except for that.
