Q-emuLator 3 issues

Post by programandala.net »

I've been trying my registered Q-emuLator 3. It's awesome. It was impressive seeing it copy the content of old QDOS 360 KiB 5'25 inches disks into new disk images! Nevertheless I've found several minor problems. I already contacted Daniele Terdina about them. I wonder if someone else has noticed them:

Device menu:

In the device menu, the shortcut keys for the last three options are missing
("MDV image", "Floppy image" and "Create"). I suggest the keys "M", "I" and
"C".

Disk image creation dialog:

The disk image creation dialog is unusable with the keyboard: The TAB key does
not work; there are no keyboard shortcuts. Besides, the dialog does not let
to change the QDOS disk label.

Long medium label:

The command "format flpX_name_longer_than_10" shows "name_longer_than_10" on
the mdv X icon; the truncated name should be shown instead, because it's the
actual name of the media.

Full screen mode with Wine (a Wine issue)

In Debian with Wine, the full screen mode does not work fine: The menu bar
does not dissapear, and the last screen text line shows only the first row
of pixels. I thought the monitor screen had misadjusted, but it's not.

800x480 screen

My sublaptop has a 800x480 screen. When I start the emulator, the MDV icons
don't appear. As they can not be accessed with the keyboard, I can not use
them.

The solution I found is to press F12 twice. Then the emulator screen shows two
of the eight drives... no room for more (even if I turn off the status bar),
though it seems a third one could fit on the row (maybe the program shows them
only in rows of 2, 4 and 8).

I think my suggestions for keyboard access (see later) would make it possible
to use all drives without actually seeing their icons.

Anyway it would be nice if the drive icons would change their size and gaps
depending of the screen size, to make them visible on one row if needed, even
if the medium label has to be truncated.
