QPC2 v5.02

Post by mk79 »

I uploaded a small bugfix release QPC2v5.02.

Switch DMEDIUM_FORMAT for the DOS device to 1 (QDOS) instead of 2
(MS-DOS) because QD switches to different line endings on MS-DOS
drives and that confuses other applications.

Also fixed direct SBYTES to screen from WIN/FLP/DOS devices.

Enjoy, Marcel

In case you are thinking "Well of course it does, you bloody idiot!": I was only joking ;)
But that aside, wouldnt it have been more to the point to just fix QD instead? (Asking for a friend.)

a) Easier to change QPC than to get everyone to update QD. Also, it's just a one byte change this way.
b) I designed the new DOS device in a way that it could completely replace WIN, so saying it's "QDOS" style isn't that unreasonable.

I downloaded QLE today and tried to execute QPC2 v5.02 on a Lenovo R60 with a Centrino Duo T2300 at 1.6 Ghz running Windows XP.. It would not run, so I downloaded QPC2 from Marcel's site and tried the same thing. It still would not run. QPC2 v5.01 runs fine on this laptop. What might be the reason?

v5.01 and v5.02 only differ in 6 lines of code, none of which can trigger this behaviour. So I really cannot explain it.

I don't know either. But when designing the latest release of QL/E, I had "fallback" in mind. For that reason, I left QPC v4.05 with its SMSQ/E v3.36 in the package. And, to make it useable, I created and placed a batch file called QPC2v405_OSv336.bat.
