qxl-kumbah,

I noticed in your .sig that you are using Qemulator. When I Qemulator, it did not support the make_dir system command, so I had to use qxltools to create directories (or another emulator). I don't think Qemulator has been updated yet to support make_dir.

I have found an extraordinary 286 PC suitable for my QXL:

Now I have to make a power supply. Hopefully this will run after power up.

I like that, dex. It's vaguely QL in that there's a keyboard and panel to the right. Perhaps you ought to get vanpeebles to spray it black for you ;-)

That's really a nice one. But agree with Dilwyn, it needs a bit of black paint ;)

Too bad it's only a 286. I prefer to run my QXL under OS/2 Warp 3.0 where it runs really nice in a multitasked DOS box and also allows on-the-fly change between the OS/2 and SMSQ/E as well as networking on the PC end. Unfortunately, you need at least a 386 for that.

QXL screen performance is also pretty much affected by the speed of the PC - But in your case, I think I would live with that ;)

Regards,
Tobias

Hi,

When used to have a working QXL, I found that it would run OK on a 286 & 386, but on a 486 and above was the best, assuming that you can find a PC Pentium Class CPU motherboard with ISA slots these days.

thanks for all the info, everyone !

... I'm slowly getting my mind around SMSQ right now, and haven't figured that I would
want to go any faster than I can "digest" the new tools ... so with that in mind, I admire that
mice little Pc I see further down ... :)

With luck, I will have that "create directory" working ( taking notes! ) and
I should be able to have some organization slowly but surely.

Thanks again, Dilwyn ! :)

I can't forget the other though ... but then the message would never end ... lol

Hiya Mr. Swenson,

I think someplace I saw a reference to a "bin" file that was a "make_dir" extension.

I think my main problem is ... do I have Toolkit II on my SMSQ /E ?

I suppose I could try a WCOPY command and if it fails then I know I don't have it.

Apart from that - it's a"a-learning I will go". :)

Toolkit II commands are an integral part of SMSQ/e :D
