Re: Books about SuperBASIC
Is the PDF made up of images? If yes, could one of the modern OCR applications that can hide the OCR output under the original image be used, as the resulting combined text & image can then be repackaged in a PDF, and this can be searched...

Re: RAM problem on faulty QL
Just some thoughts... With a Gold Card, the 68008 is not used. The CPU on the Gold Card runs the system. The CPU copies the data from the ROMs to the Gold Card RAM and then all normal memory reads and writes by the CPU use the RAM on the Gold Card. The only exceptions are writes to screen memory (wh...

Just to expand on the LED connector. The individual wires from the LEDs go in this connector. The top of the connector then pushes in to grip and make contact. It is NOT a plug and socket arrangement. When disconnecting make a note of which wire goes where, as you will need this information when rec...

Re: A seat in the lifeboat
I believe the most useful and likely to be the most popular project for a QL would be a SD card interface. Even better would be if a SD card slot, a Ethernet port and a large flash EEPROM could all be mounted on the same PCB. Maybe a large SRAM to expand the memory as well. Okay, maybe put the SD ca...

Welcome Simon! Ask all the dumb questions you like (I wont be able to answer most of them, but we can all learn from each other and the experts here are happy to help :P ). It is interesting how different the various retro communities are. Even though the QL is nearly as old as the Spectrum (1982 v...
