Re: SuperFORTH Editor

Hey ! At last, some FORTH fanatics onboard ? An opportunity for my two cents view about blocks and text files : 1024 byte blocks were invented by Chuck Moore as a way to manage from inside FORTH the primitive mass stores that they had in those times. They were kept for a long time by the FORTH commu...

Re: Inactive members

I cannot tell how many members never logged in, but looking at the post statistics of the member aera, it is easy to find out that 119 members never posted any message. I am still often lurking rather often into this forum but by now have less to tell about the QL because for the time being I am mor...

Re: External QL-SD

Hello,

If it's by design for the ROM port, I would be interested getting one.

I am living in France : no problem ?

Re: older things

Those old kits look like something from a sci fi film set 8-) Sci-fi ? That would mean "anticipation" more than 30 years old  When I was a kid in the fiftees (not a kit :? ) I was a fan of the american sci-fi cartoons published by Artima (in France, I guess), and I remember well ...

older things

Hello, Three years ago I revived my 1984 QL on a recent LCD TV ; this last month, I tried to resurect even older things. First, my 1981 ZX81 : I had to repair the keyboard wires (the membrane is still OK - all keys - but the connections with the circuit board were partially cut where they were bent....

Re: Changing the small sponge on the microdrive carts

As an analog photography fan, I successfully used as a replacement for the Sinclair microcartridge felt : very small pieces of the black velvet that covers the opening of used 135 (24x36) film cartridges (initially suited to ensure light-tightness), it works well and will be totally (I hope) undestr...

Re: QL-SD card project

I would prefer a PROM port SD card interface, because I'd like to keep the Mdv units functional as long as they work, and I find it more convenient just to be able to plug the interface into an existing unused slot, without opening and fiddling inside both my QLs.

Re: What to do with a QL?

As I said, with a "plain" QL, you can almost only develop and run SuperBasic programs and use the Psion suite, because of the limited 128k memory and the microdrives (and FORTH, because it's a powerful interactive programming tool resident in only a 64k memory segment). But if you want to ...
