Re: The sad end of QPC2 :-(

I reverted back to Wine 1.6.2 because it works with QPC2, but I do not use QPC2 much, as the QPC2 display is too small and there is no UQLX zoom option or SMSQmulator double resolution oiption. It works fine when I specify a double resolution in the configuration dialog under 'Window mode'. E.g. 64...

Re: The sad end of QPC2 :-(

Just tried it on Lubuntu 18.04 with Wine 3 installed and got the same blank screen (it shows the QPC2 window, but no contents). Also an error message from the command line: 0009:err:d3d:context_set_gl_context Failed to set pixel format 5 on device context 0x130056. Don't know if it's useful, it's pr...

I used to have such a memory extension from Micro Peripherals, it was only 256K so this must be a different one.

Computer One Monitor has a nice easter egg. Try this command: 'clone clone clone' and see what happens :D

Re: Hardware detectives for FrankenQL?

Okay, here the schematics as promised. This is the circuit diagram: circuit.png The 82S123 PROM is to be placed piggy-back on IC19, the 74LS157 on IC20. Address lines A16 to A19 from the CPU are fed to inputs 13 to 10 on the PROM, which acts as an address decoder. The outputs 1 and 2 from the PROM d...

Re: Hardware detectives for FrankenQL?

I've had a look at the diagram and it's really simple. The address lines A16-A19 from the CPU are fed into a PROM which outputs four data lines. Two of these are used to feed the A16 and A17 lines of the 8301 (which are disconnected from the corresponding CPU lines). This 'fools' the 8301 into think...

Re: Hardware detectives for FrankenQL?

It is a 'built in' mod to get 512k, which is why the original 64k x 1 DRAM pins have been replaced with 256k x 1, so it needs one more multiplexed address lines. I would be VERY interested in the way this was implemented because I don't see how it can reliably refresh the RAM... It was a very popul...

QL/E 3.18 has a working version. Still don't know about the legal status though.
