Re: RAM usage with QL-SD/Tetraoid

I'm tinkering with the mentioned interfaces - for the first steps I just downloaded the QL/E packages from Urs' website (thanks!!!). What really surprised me was the fact that huge amounts of RAM are eaten after boot: from ~900 KB RAM only 220 KB (Tetraoid) to 280 KB (QL-SD) are left. That's more t...

Re: New QL user & owner

0D0C as checksum That 'checksum' needs some investigation... Key question is how it's generated. I've tried byte-sum, word-sum (both big- and little-endian) and word-XOR on FB, PM, AH, and JM ROMs (8000-BFFF) but none of the results looked like 0D0C. - edit: the '0D0C' should probably be read as 'Q...

Re: The Sinclair QL Repository

Recently it was cold and rainy here in Switzerland (we call it April weather) and I had/made me some free time to get several things fixed on the sinclairql.net website, like broken links (e.g. to Dilwyn's pages), plus the QL Picture Gallery is now reachable again (stored on OneDrive).

Re: New QL user & owner

- Most likely this QL came with a ROM port dongle holding at least additional 16 KB of the firmware (in a third 27128 EPROM IC), usually labelled 8000 (at address 8000 Hex). Do you have got a ROM port dongle or any additional EPROM ICs? I did some investigation, tracking back the seller of this QL ...

Hello Urs. I kept meaning to tell you that your images at: https://www.sinclairql.net/pic/ don't work, but I suspect you've noticed that (hence the onedrive images)! Thank you Chr$ for letting me know. Recently it was cold and rainy and I had/made some free time to get several things fixed on the s...

Re: New QL user & owner

I can supply a set of JM ROMs for testing, plus the missing LED wires and whatever screws are missing to help get this back to factory condition (assuming the LEDs were ever fitted) - just need the cost of postage as it is such a good find, it would be useful to get it up and running and see what h...

Re: New QL user & owner

Hi MetroZodiac & Welcome to the QL community! Speaking of QL community, I was off a while due to life and work issues, plus the fact that I had to move my Retro Lab & Collection to a new place recently. Just last night I had a short look into the forum and just saw this thread. Coincidence? ...

Re: Hi

One of the easiest way to try out and compare virtual QLs (emulated 68K) with a fundamental basic setup of software is QL/E. QL/E is portable and comes with QPC2, SMSQmulator, QPC1, uQLx and sQLux. Plus it's able to run with the registered edition of Q-emuLator. And having a closer look at the imple...

Re: QL/E - The QL Environment (QLE)

Do youknow how many users use QL/E? Well, it's me and maybe Simon. ;) Seriously, I just don't know. But I know the download figures. Take the previous version 3.20. This had a "successful download" count of 298 in 365 days. 1 month has passed since the release of version 3.21. I had a qui...
