Adjusting the QNET timings on a QXL2

Hi everyone Question: How do you find the Device Definition Block (DDB) base-address from SBASIC for the NET device on a QXL under SMSQ/E? Context: Whilst still exploring the QNET capabilities across various platforms, I purchased a refurbished QXL2 (8MB, 40MHz osc => CPUCLK @ 20MHz) from Derek a li...

Re: QL Video issue - Red color missing

Hi Raul In addition to the level-shifting resistors, you may well also need to convince the monitor/TV to switch to RGB mode via the SCART socket (SCART defaults to Composite Video instead of RGB.) There are various ways to do this, but the simplest seems to be to tap-off the Composite-PAL signal fr...

Re: Dead QL

Hi Greg Whilst the 8301 remains under suspicion, your latest findings do also suggest that either of the DRAM or else the bus transceiver (that inter-connects the CPU bus to the 8301's 'private' bus isolating the DRAM) might be shot. I don't believe the replacement 8301 is too expensive - assuming R...

Re: New video output system

Great initiative Dave!

Will QVid v2 squeeze the visible scanline in to 64us to better suit the available upscalers (and PAL TV, for that matter...)?

Re: All RAM chips destroyed??

Hi again Tomas As Rich said, the other positions of optional links are obscured by those three zero-ohm 'resistors' (note the single black-band == zero ohms). It apparently proves easier to automate the component assembly process using zero-ohm resistors rather than actual bare wires... The links in...

Re: All RAM chips destroyed??

Hi Tomas Without wishing to go too far off Cristian's original topic, those JUx represent wire-links/zero-ohm resistors on the Iss-5 boards to accommodate different EPROM/ROM configurations before the masked ROMs were finalised towards end of life of the Iss-5 release. They appear immediately betwee...

Re: QEmulator support for old MAC Powerbooks...

Hi again Daniele So, just to close the loop on this little excursion in to retro-QL-emulation ( :) ), I can confirm that the PPC version of Q-Em (v2.2.1) that you kindly dug-up for us runs nicely on the PowerBook 5300cs (100MHz 603e PPC) - and FAR quicker than v3.0.4, 68k version (as you said it wou...

Re: 68060 based QL system?

Thanks Peter!

Assuming then that the FPGA option effectively represents an upgraded Q68, I'll vote for that option :-)

Re: 68060 based QL system?

Hi Peter Thanks for the initiative... Given my limited knowledge at this level, I think I'd need to have it explained in a little more detail as to the relative benefits/limitations of each option before I could form and share an informed opinion. For example: a) What potential clock-speeds can an F...
