Re: New (to me) Q40!

These days you can get a small PSU with a single molex connector rated at 2A. The 68040 alone can draw almost 8W, so 2A is not sufficient. I'm not going to specify the supply current, as I don't know the ISA cards and peripherals used. Why not measure the actuall current for your configuration and ...

Chr$ wrote:out of interest does it actually use the +12v on it's molex input connector - all the board is no doubt 5v but I wonder if ISA/serial connections are what require the 12v?
The +12V is required for the ISA bus, the Q40/Q60 generates -12V from it, also.

Chr$ wrote:4. I understand that normally the 2nd ISA slot was an Ethernet card. What make/model was this? (so I can potentially source one).
Non plug&play NE2000 compatible ISA cards, typically RTL8019AS chipset.

Re: QL / PASCAL

Alternatively there is some commented out code that can produce the XTcc trailer known from XTC68 instead. Thanks Marcel. That's a good idea, as the XTcc trailer is the standard QL cross compiler output, which one gets from QDOS-GCC also, and from cross assembly. Classic tools for native filesystem...

Well I use emulators and even gave my recommendation for an emulator. No idea what the purpose of such obviously wrong remarks is.

Re: QL / PASCAL

Recently I had a short but fascinated look at NetBSD/68k, because it supports a plain 68000 target with a primitive MMU. And not only that, but it even has a complete distro - which would save much work compared to Linux if I want it on the Q68. (Easier to add a primitive MMU than dealing with ucLi...

No. Both is equally good for HC/HCT. For LSTTL a resistor around 1K to VCC is best.

Re: White screen but no problem with Minerva?

Unlike regular TTL and derived families, which kind of default to high, CMOS is really floating in a VERY high impedance state so all sorts of electromagnetic garbage can influence them resulting in unused gates processing fake signals, increasing power drain and regenerating said EM garbage. Good ...

Re: QL / PASCAL

I actually have ported my QPCPrint ESC/P2 printer emulator from Delphi to Lazarus last year, so while I don't use the 68k backend I'm highly impressed with the whole project and downright thrilled that there is a QL cross compiler. Slightly off topic, but why did that require porting? I was under i...
