Re: QSound and QPrint Interface
Ayplayer doesn't accept input or output files in command string (only command options, see ayplayer_txt). It requires TK2 to allow giving input/output filenames in EX command. I don't know why EX win1_ayplayer, win1_tune, qsound hangs, can you open a channel to qsound device in Basic to prove device...

Re: QSound and QPrint Interface
Just a quick reply, did you change the 100K resistor to 5K or less ? The original used 1K, I would try that first. It is not a pull up for unused inputs, it is part of the selection logic off 5 open-collector outputs. It uses crude /DSL.E logic, it might be border line (BTW even EPROM is accessed ov...

Re: QSound and QPrint Interface
When I compare 1.31 and 1.40 they are completely different, almost no bytes shared :? No idea, I convert to "ascii" with hexdump and them check de diferences, and get the change in the banner at the begin of rom and the PAR/CEN change Ditto, when I check versions posted earlier in thread ...

Re: QSound and QPrint Interface
Isn't the extension a strong hint to the Metacomco Assembler? Bingo. Never used that one before, but it assembled the file without a hitch. Not sure if this ROM works or if it was ever released in this version, but it's probably worth a try. Thanks, I burn it, and works, very similar to 1.31 (apart...

Re: QSound and QPrint Interface
My idea is a bit diferent, more important thing: I understant that PB pins are low by default, and should provide E clock in this situation (for compatibility with old software X'D) and when the pin go 1, enable de 2Mhz. I was thinking in the unused gates already in the board, perhaps with a smd os...

Re: QSound and QPrint Interface
I think that a second 2Mhz clock can be easy done with 1 74LS03 and a 2Mhz crystal, I will try to find one an check if work, anyway... Yes, I used simple inverter (74HC14) with 1K from output to one side of crystal and 33pF to 0V, other side of crystal to input, with 4M7 across crystal. To switch b...

Re: QSound and QPrint Interface
Is it possible it was SN76477 chip you played with (at 9V) ? It was versatile and wasn't computer controlled like AY.

Maplin Electronics magazine did quite a few computer projects, IIRC more so than others.NormanDunbar wrote:I've tried to remember which magazine I built it from
BTW https://worldradiohistory.com/Home-UK.htm is a good source of back issues of magazines you mentioned.

Re: TDI and QIMI - compatible?
Battery flat or too low? That will cause spurious resets. need to either charge battery (ideally directly - resistor is too large) or remove battery and simply connect wires together.Wrangler wrote:Any ideas why this would be?

Re: QSound and QPrint Interface
I was considering whether to knock up a QSound board a few years ago but instead went with something a bit more ambituous (2x AY-3-8910, 2x SN76489, YMF262+YAC512). I considered modding QSound to use one the spare port B outputs to switch AY input clock from E clock to something ZX compatible. But i...
