Re: Tandata modem stack

I've found the manual for this - but sadly no MD cartridge - I think that went years ago.

Re: Microdrive Unit Design

larger as in >10uF caps will get rid of ripple and lower frequency noise, but unless you go with low ESR types, higher frequency noise needs smaller caps with a low ESR to filter that out. Consider also, that larger caps have more foil area in the electrodes, and this increases inductance within the...

Re: Microdrive Unit Design

I suspect some of that noise on the old 7805 regulator could be reduced by soldering a couple of smallish value smd's across the vin-gnd and gnd-vout pins on the regulator, right by the regulator body, as it's got a about 1-1.5 inches of wire to radiate from as well, and any bypass caps are quite so...

Re: ULA ZX8301 - TV Picture Capabilities

It almost seems to make more sense to replicate the operation of the Aurora but in an FPGA that could be offered as a plug in replacement or plug in card ?

You could design it from the get go for VGA / DVI / HDMI output.

Re: Microdrive Unit Design

I would say the socket could introduce the possibility of some additional electrical noise, and possibly some noise due to the (all be it small) vibrations of the motor, no matter how good and tight the socket is.

If you got Bluetooth running on a QL - what would you use it for ?

Re: Discussion about connecting RASPI to QL

A task co processor would be something you can offload work to. I didn't want to call it coprocessor, as that to me implies the much closer coupling in an FPU or MMU for instance, and the pi won't give you that. It would be possible to give the pi a to do list and some data and let it get on with it...
