That was the strange thing though. No mdv file, including both known good and even new, would format as mdv3. But all the images would format fine as mdv4

Well I swapped the 16GB SD card for a 2GB one and that seems to have solved the problem

Can now format MDV3, happy days hopefully

A bit of further testing shows I can read from/write to MDV3 (if the image is already formatted)

Strangely, and perhaps just my imagination, it seemed like reading MDV3 was a lot slower when copying MDV3->MDV4 compared to MDV4->MDV3

My vMap/vDrive seemed to be working fine but this afternoon I can no longer format any image mounted as MDV3 (just comes up format failed) I've tried obvious things like power cycling, tried an SDinit but no matter what image I mount as mdv3 (made with mkimg) fails to format. If I list the drive...

Found the vMap amongst the shredded paper ok

Have now fitted it and it’s all working (though I’ve not tried to remap the internal drives as yet)

Hardest part was extracting the existing cables from the system board.

Have purchased a Quintupler, VGA adapter & JS/TK2 ROM from Chr$ recently

Had excellent communication (both before and after), quick delivery from Germany & great prices too

Today I received my vDrive & vMap

Won't have time to fit the vMap for a few days though

Have swapped the white floppy for a black one, looks better

Floppy cable turned up and was the wrong one so I got a 1m ribbon cable and made my own

Anyway, GoTek and floppy now working fine

Was stumped formatting an img file for a while but the MacOS qltools utility in another thread sorted me out

I got a working copy of this on MDV with my QL when I purchased it Am waiting for my floppy cables and/or vDrive to arrive so I can try and make a safe backup before the MDV fails Haven't been able to find out much about it on the web, other than what's in this thread! I don't know what the copyrigh...
