Re: Covid19

Other countries can manage, why the hell can't the British STFU and listen to advice? Well, since you've come up with the topic, I find it a bit irresponsible that the UK is not taking action, nor is France doing it. Leaving the population at the expense of possible immunization is going to be defi...

Re: Covid19

I really don't understand the mentatlity of bulk buying - most people have enough stored up to live for a couple of weeks in the house - might need to be inventive with recipees. In our supermarkets in the UK - dried pasta is almost always sold out - shelves are empty - but you will have no problem ...

Re: QL PSU

One possible solution to the lack of an AC supply would be one of those 5V to +/- 12V switch mode boards - they are around on ebay. To use one of these, you would need to unsolder the 2 12V regulator devices that provide the +12V and -12v supply and wire in your outputs from the board - then take a ...

I tried requesting membership on the quanta home page, it seemed to go through ok, but I have not heard a been since then - that was over a week ago, just wondering if this organisation is still active ?

Re: Fitting a Minerva EEPROM to a Issue 5 QL

In theory it should be possible to do that with 5V writeable flash, but there is a command sequence to programming these FLASH chips that has to be followed, along with a much more extended write time - the 29f040 chip actually buffers a whole block to write, and you can come back and interrogate th...

Re: Fitting a Minerva EEPROM to a Issue 5 QL

Hi agan! Being reminded of Vitaly's 'multi-ROM' availability, I'd recommend like Chr$ to go that route as the path of least resistance :-) However, should you want to 'tinker', just let us know - several options, depending upon your taste... +1 on that - you get to have 8 different ROMS available, ...

Re: Fitting a Minerva EEPROM to a Issue 5 QL

There was another thread on this recently. From what I remember with an issue 5 board : 1) A15 on your Eprom is on pin 1 - but sinclair have tied that to pin 28 (5v) so you need to reroute the actual A15 signal which is on either the OE or CE pin of the ROM sockets (CE probably, as the 2 masked ROMS...
