Re: Optimal Flatscreen monitors for QL and Q68
Here's a screenshot from my freshly booted Q68 connected to the Benq BL912: In that low resolution, the Q68 video controller enlarges every pixel to 2x3=6 pixels, so of course it looks good at first glance. But if you look closer, you notice that the width of pixels is not constant (showing a 8x8 m...

Re: Optimal Flatscreen monitors for QL and Q68
However, I have to say that I've been disappointed with the EM15A - I find that there's a lot of what I will call shine-through from the backlight, meaning that a black screen isn't very black, and no amount of fiddling with the settings seems to be able to improve that. With the Q68, contrast 50 /...

Re: Issue 8 discussions...
Q40/60 and 68 I guess have the advantage of providing a fast poll interrupt. I wanted to implement just that on the GF, for the exact same purpose - and I explained the fast poll idea in a related thread just recently. This can be done by setting bit 0 of the Frame Rate Register: $FF00 0038 on Q40/...

Re: Optimal Flatscreen monitors for QL and Q68
I'm reasonably content using the SCART-HDMI converter to plug my QL into a TV or monitor with HDMI connection, but it's a clumsy setup with too much cable. Yes Dilwyn it is far from ideal. But for the other monitors I tried before, not even that SCART-HDMI converter worked. I was left with the GBS8...

Re: SGC + QUBIDE - on original QL
It is difficult for me to use both on the original QL. I have also bought different backplane but without success. With QL-SD, SGC fits nicely into the original case. So my first question would be, why not replace Qubide? Practically, I don't see that Qubide has any advantage left for QL mass stora...

Optimal Flatscreen monitors for QL and Q68
Some may be interested in a flatscreen monitor that suits both the QL and Q68 equally well. Therefore I start a separate topic, not just appended it to Q68 or QL video threads. My personal requirements were: 4:3 screen format, because this was the original QL look, no widescreen Between 12" and...

Re: Poll: Do you use a Mouse on your QL ?
The Q68 which I have has a PS2 mouse connection but I found that a modern PS2 mouse did not work with it and am using an old USB mouse from Tesco with a USB to serial adapter which works perfectly. Just for clarification: In principle, all PS/2 mice or USB+PS/2 combo mice, with or without wheel, ol...

Re: Floating a thought to understand the issues...
That does not sound like something compatible has been used before. So the work to read the data sheet and find the right configuration values and register locations can not be avoided. But that does not require high programming skills, just diligence and time. I can not see why Jan's driver would n...

Re: Floating a thought to understand the issues...
My frustration is that I am facing the same catch-22 daily with the lack of driver for the serial card. You can find a nice standalone serial driver here: https://github.com/janbredenbeek/QL/blob/master/ASM/ser3.asm It is for the historic ACIA 6850, but should be relatively easy to adapt to other c...
