Today I fixed....

Today I fixed the 30 odd year old electrical safety issue with the Miracle System floppy disk drive unit. Miracle Systems in their infinite wisdom only fitted a two core cable to the steel cased floppy units. Today this wouldn't be allowed as it's too easy for the case to become live if a wire comes...

Re: Date formats

And then... there's the big-endian numeric variants which have the year first, either two or four digits. With the full year number it's completely unabiguous to the point where separators can be omitted, e.g. ISO 8601

Re: AMPEX Terminal 210

It's just an RS232 DTE device so you just need the correct cable.

Re: Issue Tx boards discussions

[ That would also make it fully compatible to Q40, Q60 and Q68. Still I'm reluctant to recommend the PC pinout - I understand the Tx as a strict retro board, so it makes some sense to keep original QL equipment like printers, printer interfaces or QL-taylormade serial cables directly usable. Were t...

Re: Issue Tx boards discussions

Maybe if you asked Charles Ingley (@Bloodnok) nicely he could look into it?

Re: Issue Tx boards discussions

That's incredible! So let me get this straight... this is basically intended as a replacement motherboard product? It will technically be about the same spec-wise as the original (but with proper D-SUB added, better video out and more convenient power requirements) but you'll still need to use your...

Re: Bad Apple demos

Hi Stephen, Really excellent work, getting the demo to run on a QL. Could an API be written to load in video files? Well, the code is written with the idea of being more flexible. The encoder program is actually a generic encoding function with a debugging main() calling it with specific parameters...

Re: "New" SD interface

VERY GOOD !!!! I use QL-SD with SuperGoldCard ... It would be nice to allow the use of this interface also for SGC owners. Or including this feature in the new SCG ;) M. Hear! Hear! All that memory and CPU power hobbled by the storage. Tetroid, did you ever think of having a separate FPGA/microcont...

Re: Bad Apple demos

OK, file updated with proper m4v.h file, anyway, here's how the music works: The decoder uses the following value to IPC note table: int pitch_table[] = { 41, /* A */ 38, /* A# */ 36, /* B */ 33, /* Middle C */ 31, /* C# */ 28, /* D */ 26, /* D# */ 24, /* E */ 22, /* F */ 20, /* F# */ 19, /* G */ 17...

Re: Bad Apple demos

Bother! I forgot to update the include/m4v.h file in the source archive so I can't post the musical notes look-up table. I'll have to fix that when I get home.
