QL Filer - New in 2019 - Archive media extractor

As I was trying to figure out how to get old disks found in my loft working on the current generation of emulators, I quickly discovered that there is fairly inconsistent support for the various media formats on modern PCs. QL Zip files are a bit mysterious, and the tools to handle .mdv and .win fil...

Re: New (old) game: Rockfall

I downloaded both Rockfall files, I tried the WIN file on QEMulator running MInerva v1.98 Running the emulator at full speed, the game was a little unplayable, but the registered version of QEMulator, allows the emulator to be slowed down to normal QL speed. This made the game run OK and I was able...

Re: New (old) game: Rockfall

Funny, I thought "man, this looks familiar" and sure enough I had included Rockfall in my QL-SD demo disc https://www.kilgus.net/ql/ql-sd/ . You can download it here either as a .win file or a directory - both should work on emulators that match the original QL memory mapped screens. QPC2...

Re: uQLx 2018a

Just as a follow up - the bug accessing win devices on uQLX under Windows Subsystem for Linux is specific to version 2018a - the older version without the TCP fix works just fine.

New (old) game: Rockfall

---- UPDATE ---- New release 26th January Hopefully this should fix the problems with Rockfall running fast on some emiulators. I've updated the files at the links below. --------------------------- Christmas gave me a little time to go through the loft and resurrect some old disks, including a Boul...

Re: FGPA Anyone?

I've been experimenting with the MiSTer QL emulator built on the DE10 Nano FPGA board - it's a compact and fairly neat implementation of a bare bones QL - with some support for QL SD card images (though i can't get that part to work). It would be lovely if it got more support for disk images of var...

Re: uQLx 2018a

Hmmm... I've just installed uQLX under windows 10 Unix susystem and for some reason every other time I try to access a win_ drive (backed by a .win file) I get 'Not Found'. So it'll work once, then fail, then work, then fail, then work. Doesn't seem to matter what the command is (dir, copy, lbytes, ...

Re: Recognise this Assembler?

Ha! You're right, it's Metacomco.... I have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast, so I'm flattered you remember me :) So far I have the code and the assembler for RockFall. It looks like it'll never work under SMSQ/E (direct access to screen memory), but it does work on the MiSTer hardware e...

Recognise this Assembler?

Hi, I'm trying to resurrect a couple of old programs I wrote for the QL. One is a Boulder Dash clone that even at the time was fiendishly difficult and is now unplayable on emulators (RockFall). I've found the development disks - and amazingly, they work under QPCII on an old Windows XP machine with...
