Q-emulator on PPC Mac and OS X 10.5?
Hi, I always used Q-emulator on my PPC Mac, but to run a relatively up-to-date webbrowser, I had to move up from OS X 10.3 to something higher. I would prefer OS X 10.4, but it has become extremely expensive second hand. So I got version 10.5, which is the last OS X with PPC support. Unfortunately O...

Re: Help needed :-)
Today, the Q60 suffers from depending on multisync monitors. No problem in the time of CRTs. But most of today's flatscreens guess a wrong resolution and interpolate incorrectly. It has been reported that the Open Source Scan Converter (OSSC) delivers an acceptable picture, but an extra box is never...

You can still order the LC4064V75TN48C for 3.09 € if you accept 39 weeks of waiting.Maskenlos wrote:Current price for 842-LC4064V75TN48C is around 35USD per single piece instead of 3.50
Also faster speed grade chips for 5,58 € are available around April 2022.

Re: GNU GDB
For Q40/60 I had used GDB source level debugging via SER, using a "remote stub". Which is a few special-purpose subroutines that implement the GDB remote serial protocol and are linked to the executable. That was remote debugging (from a PC) and the executable was "bare metal" GC...

Re: My ZX81's stopped working. :-(
But speaking of it, for some unexplained reason the classic license apparently now costs 600 USD per year, so that also rules out these chips for new designs. Same happened to Lattice ispLSI devices. But back then I could at least get a permanent license, and it was not so expensive. The LFE5U is s...

Re: My ZX81's stopped working. :-(
If I had the choice I would always choose Intel, the Quartus software is way ahead of everything else I've seen, especially when it comes to debugging. I agree that Quartus is the most user friendly, I worked with it for a decade or so. Similar to Lattice where I only know ispLever and not Diamond....

Re: My ZX81's stopped working. :-(
Okay that's a very individual procurement situation. I was just wondering if I had overlooked a nice technical feature of the Xilinx chip - it just seemed 60% more expensive to me. I agree that the Lattice tools are inferior to those of Intel and Xilinx. Lattice as a small PLD/FPGA vendor can compet...

Re: Q68 QoE Ethernet Driver
My main intention was to cherish the enormous amount of work and your outstanding achievement, creating such a comprehensive QL native driver in assembly language. I think the combined complexity of TCP/IP and ethernet is higher than any driver that Tony Tebby ever wrote. Hopefully your work will be...

What made you move from the ispMACH 4000 family to XC9500?mk79 wrote:Well, the 5V compatibility drove me to the XC95144, but maybe it would have been better to just use lever shifters and a newer chip, no idea.
