Re: Breaking news: The QIMSI Interface
Yes the idea to use the external keyboard already for F1/F2 was why I was asking. But I agree that this is very unimportant. I mostly use my QLs as they are, within their wonderful original case. External keyboard was never a key feature of QIMSI, it is not a big deal to wait for the F1/F2 timeout....

Re: Breaking news: The QIMSI Interface
You are aware that the UNLOCK register has to be read on the QL side of QIMSI, not written as on the Q68? Yes, I have replaced it with a 'tst.b' instruction ;) Do you think you can squeeze this into 48 KB, maybe sacrificing the QL matrix keyboard driver? Will be difficult as the local keyboard tran...

Re: Breaking news: The QIMSI Interface
I'm also wondering if the work Jan did on the Q68 drivers for Minerva could be used to provide a working PS/2 interface for the legacy QL OS... Just a little patience, work is in progress... it was held up by the lack of a PS/2 to USB keyboard converter on this side, but I've been able to create a ...

Re: Minerva ROM on Issue 5
Only earlier versions of the Issue 5 board were equipped to use Eproms. These can be identified by the presence of IC17 (a 74LS00) immediately left of the ZX8302, just above the trimmer capacitor. Later versions had ROMs installed which were programmed to output only on a specific combination of the...

Re: Q68 support thread
I mostly use Windows 10 and have no problem reading FAT partitions on the SD card. Have you already tried Disk Management (which is the Windows 10 partition utility)?

Re: FPGA replacment for the ZX8301 ULA and more
This will require to disconnect one of the A18 or A19 pins of the expansion and replace it with A21, clever trick and may work if Minerva tries to look for drivers up there. It is true that both Minerva and QDOS look for ram as long as they find more but does Minerva look for driver rom beyond 1MB?...

Re: Ql Clone build
you don't need to restrict to one bit at a time - if you rewrite the MT.IPCOM trap - you could chose 8 bit transfer for instance - which makes for a quicker interface between the QL and the IPC - assuming you still need it of course. The keyboard is read via a polled interrupt task and calls the IP...

Re: KEYWORD PUT
Can someone explain what I’m doing wrong? Or what is happening! PUT stores data in its internal form in a file, while PRINT stores it in the form as it is printed on the screen. An integer variable is 2 bytes, a floating point variable 6 bytes and a string 2 bytes (the length) followed by the bytes...

According to this page, the Sinclair ROMs may be freely used except for North America, where Paul Holmgren and Frank Davis hold the copyright.

Re: Q68 support thread
I'd rather call it a "deliberate non-implement". Most of the graphics drivers seem to be derived from the QPC one, that (obviously) doesn't have hardware support for FLASH. And, on a personal note, I've never missed it.... The last time I used it was probably in a Videotex (Prestel) termi...
